NetSetGO Portal
Welcome to the NetSetGO portal. This is a place where our NetSetGO members can come to find all the relevant information for the NetSetGO program.
Training
Training is on Wednesday evenings from 5.00 - 6.00pm on either court 43, 44 or 45 (see map below). We ask that all athletes arrive at least 5 minutes early and to be ready to go.
Training is important for athletes and coaches to connect and focus on skill development. For this reason, we ask that parents do not sit on the sidelines of the courts during training sessions as this can be distracting at times. If any athlete has medical concerns or issues with anxiety that weren’t disclosed in registration, please liaise with your coach.
Our coaches are all volunteers, with many of them being players themselves. They are also learning and are receiving ongoing development through attendance at coaching courses as well as working with their mentor Natasha Fay. The coaches are following a program that has been developed by our Head Coach and President Sian Geldenhuys and focuses on the progression of skills as outlined by Netball Australia. The focus for NetSetGO is the development of basic skills and participation. An example of what their training plan may look like can be found here.
If you have any concerns about your child’s development or progress please do not hesitate to contact your coach.
We train here!
Training attire
Players should be dressed appropriately for training. This includes wearing the NetSetGO T-shirt (or Venetians training singlet) , sports shoes and removing all jewellery. Please bring a bag with a drink bottle, towel and a jumper for cooler weather.
Matches
All Winter games are played at Wanneroo Districts Netball Association on Friday nights.
4:30pm - Year 2 & Year 4
5:30pm - Year 3
6:30pm - Year 5
Fixtures will be updated every 5 games for the NetSetGO divisions when a re-grade is completed. This is to make sure teams are graded fairly throughout the season. Fixtures are available on PlayHQ.
Rules
The NetSetGO program has been developed under the guidelines of the Netball Australia Junior Sports Policy, which emphasises “The introduction of children to organised competitive netball should be gradual and is best achieved through minor games/ activities and modified rules.”
The SET tier is an introduction to the sport of netball and incorporates skills, activities, modified matches and uses modified equipment. It is a skill and competition-based program that allows children to learn and develop their skills in a series of fun activities and minor games, which can then be applied in a match situation. The rules for the modified SET competition can be found here.
The GO tier has been introduced to ensure a smooth transition for participants into Junior Netball. The modified rules and equipment allow for participants to experience success while learning the correct technique and executing skills with greater proficiency. he rules for the modified GO competition can be found here.
Game Day Protocols
There are specific protocols for issues or queries that might arise from game day. To address an issue on game day, you must speak to the Team Manager who will liaise with the coach. They can then head to the match office with the complaint or umpiring card to discuss the issue. If anyone approaches the match office without a card, they will be turned away.
If the issue is not dealt with on game day, please do not contact WDNA directly. WDNA will only liaise with the club contact which is our president Sian Geldenhuys or Secretary Sarah Sutton. To raise any issues, please first discuss with your coach and team manager or email Sian – president@venetiansnetballclub.com.au who will be able to either answer your question or contact WDNA on your behalf.
We also have Game Day Liaisons who will visit each team on game day. They are a great point of reference and can be contacted for any queries regarding rules or procedures. Debbie Edwards is our Game Day Liaison coordinator and can be contacted by emailing GDL@venetiansnetballclub.com.au
SCORECARDS:
-
There is a new scorecard to be used in 2022 from PlayHQ. Please click here to see an example produced by WDNA.
-
You do not need to fill in goal attempts.
-
The scorecard must stay in the scoring box for the whole game, even during break periods.
-
A timer must be provided for the Year 5 time slot and remain in the box next to the scorer.
-
The Year 3 and Year 4 time slots are centrally timed, but it is recommended to have a “timer” to observe the scorer and to stop score disputes.
-
Do not prefill centre passes.
-
SET: whoever did not score takes the next C pass.
-
GO: is alternating C passes.
-
-
Rolling subs: just fill in where they played the majority of the game. However, it is ideal to write the first position they play in small writing, then have a line and write the next position they play.
